Opnieuw is tumult ontstaan over de mogelijk causale rol van het Xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus (XMRV) bij het ontstaan van het chronischvermoeidheidssyndroom.

Twee Amerikaanse onderzoekgroepen rapporteren tegengestelde bevindingen over de rol van het virus.
